While most women hate to admit it, most of us battle dryness and even discomfort sometimes during sex. Yet, sometimes the harmful chemicals in lubricants – parabens and glycerine – can cause more pain than good. So, Astroglide has created a lubricant designed with no parabens or glycerine at all. It’s designed to be a standard, thick, gel-style lube, without the fear of irritation or discomfort. While we disagree that this is for people with “sensitive skin”, because toxic chemicals hurting someone does not mean it’s a sensitivity – making a body-safe lube is still a positive step forward.

But, is this lubricant really body-safe? After writing this review, we found another review which exposes a harmful chemical in the lube, phenoxyethanol, that may cause pain, discomfort, burning, and irritation. So, even though this lubricant worked for me, it may not be a body-safe choice for everyone.

Note: This product is discontinued. We recommend Wicked Aqua Sensitive instead.

The Details

Astroglide Sensitive Skin Gel is thicker than Astroglide’s standard lubricant because it is made to soothe and hydrate while providing lubrication to your lady bits. It is water-based lubricant, meaning it’s safe to use with latex condoms and silicone toys. It can be used for personal pleasure, foreplay, intercourse, anal use, play with toys, and more! It is odorless, colorless, and tasteless. Yet, it is thicker than other lubricant formulas. Astroglide calls this formula its “thick, stay-put formula” because it is long-lasting, and can easily stay put on your body and toys. It works well in all it’s uses, those some people may find this thick formula to be uncomfortable or messy. It can also tend to get a bit sticky during use. Since it is water-based, Astroglide Sensitive Skin Gel can be easily cleaned with water and soap. It leaves no residue behind when cleaned immediately after use. Although the formula was not uncomfortable for me, others have reported that it caused them pain, burning, and discomfort during use.

Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • No taste or odor
  • No residue
  • Long lasting

Cons:

  • May not actually be body-safe
  • Thick formula
  • Can get messy and sticky
  • Has caused pain and burning for some people

Although the Astroglide Sensitive Skin Gel worked well for me and was non-irritating, it may not work well for everyone. We would highly recommend other body-safe lubes instead!
