First Impressions

When I opened the package, the vibrator was nestled inside along with a discreet travel bag and charging chord. I decided to try the toy without Bluetooth first to see how I liked it. To be honest, the Bluetooth is the real appeal of the Nex 2, at least in my opinion. The vibrations are too weak to get me off, but the use of the app is exciting, fun, and great for a long distance relationship. Still, you can use the Nex 2 without the app.

Physically, the Nex 2 is appealing and non-intimidating. Beginners will love its small size, while I really enjoy the fact that it’s almost phallic in shape. The curves and slightly githier tip make it great for G-spot stimulation once inserted. At 6.5 inches, four inches are insertable, and this toy is 4.5 inches at its girthiest. The Nex 2 is ideal for both external and internal use, especially given the curve along the shaft that can cradle your labia or clit. The size is manageable, discreet, and slim and the silicone that the Nex 2 is made from is completely body safe and phthalate free. Yay!

Control

To turn the toy on, press the heart-shaped button at the base. One press sets it up to search for a Bluetooth link, while two presses will switch it to “regular” mode where you can control vibrations just like your average vibrator. I found that I had to press a little harder and longer than I expected; the button can be a little tricky. Press and hold to turn the vibrator off. The + and – sides of the heart change each mode through six different levels of intensity. They’re all pretty low-level vibrations in my opinion, ranging from a light buzz to a mid-level vibe. If you’re enjoying some solo play and want to use this mode, the options are as follows:

  1. A steady vibration
  2. Pulse
  3. Fast pulse
  4. A long vibration followed by pulses
  5. Pulses followed by fast pulses
  6. Short, low pulses followed by longer pulses before a long vibration
  7. Fast pulses, followed by a long vibration; faster pulses, followed by a long vibration

While the vibrations don’t really do too much for me, they are definitely quiet, which I appreciate. This toy is very discreet.

To charge the Nex 2, use the USB port that comes with it. The port to insert the chord into is at the base of the toy.

The App

Now, for the application, which is absolutely my favorite part about this toy! Search for the “OhMiBod” app in the App or Play Store on your device (assuming you have an iPhone or Android) and download it to really enjoy the best features of this toy. The manual that comes in the package goes into perfect detail about how to connect if you’re a little lost, but after your first connection, if your phone or your partner’s phone is nearby, the toy will automatically connect to it once it’s turned on.

Once linked, there are so many great options on the app. If your partner is long distance and has WiFi (or even if they’re down the street but can’t get over for some busy time) they can still control your toy. Search for their username to connect with them by clicking “WiFi Play” on the first screen, or my clicking “Connect” or “WiFi” on the side menu. You can also link to recent connections at any time. If you want to communicate in the app during the experience, there’s a chat option, too.

From the main menu, you or your partner can do some pretty awesome things. The app really walks you through how to control it properly. You can select a pre-set rhythm for a list, or create and record your own with methods like touch, tap, wave, and my favorite – voice.

I also really like the app comes with an “Oh-Dometer” where you can track your orgasms and set orgasm goals for the week. You can also see what time of day you’re most likely to get off based on your history. How cool is that?

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Bluetooth!
  • WiFi for long distance play
  • Manageable, sleek size
  • Body safe materials
  • Customization gives you what you want
  • App is very user-friendly

Cons

  • Weak vibrations

Conclusion

In all honesty, the vibrations for this toy were too weak to get me going, but I’m still thrilled about it. It’s great for keeping the intimacy alive in a long distance relationship, and it’s even just a lot of fun for solo play. I love that I can create my own patterns of vibration. I would absolutely love if OhMiBod could create an even stronger toy in their next model and certainly will be the fist in line to purchase it if so – power queens should look elsewhere in the meantime. All in all, the Nex 2 is a wonderful concept and an absolute blast, perfect for beginners, couples, and those who need customization to reach their O.
