“Hump, The Game” is described to be “A Rompin’ Good Time”. Called “The Game of Erotic Education and Sexual Satisfaction”, the title on the box promises a high-energy, fun, sexy time. I imagined something interactive, something like raunchy Cranium – or something you’re supposed to play with your lover to spice things up a bit. However, this game scores low on the Scoville Scale (aka: it’s not very hot at all). Instead, it is a slightly risqué trivia game with a chance to raunch at the end. I love trivia and anything sex-related, so I liked this game. But it was hardly the foreplay I was expecting.

The game has a small spinner that will land on one of four categories: Sex Positions, Foreplay, Unique Experiences, and Down and Dirty. You read a card from the appointed category and the other player has to guess the answer. If you get the answer, you win the card. The first player to get 10 cards wins, and gets the sexy reward: You get to choose a “sex tip” from your 10 cards to try out.

When it came to this point, I didn’t feel like there were any interesting options. The cards are interesting as trivia, but somewhat bland when applied to real sexytime.

My biggest critique of this game is that it is 100% cis-hetero-normative. All of the trivia and “sex tips” are based on heterosexual couples and attraction and a stark gender binary. That really irked me sometimes, because it misses the full picture of human sexuality and gender. I don’t think the answer is for them to have a “gay” and a “straight” deck — though that would be an improvement. Their facts need to account for the reality that sex and gender do not exist on a binary and people often do not love within a binary.

Overall, it was a fun game. It was a quick game, so if you’re bored on a Sunday afternoon, it’s not a bad way to pass the time. But, if you’re looking for something to really turn up the heat on your sex life, try another game instead!
