It’s hard to miss an Ovo display in your local sex store – this German-based company’s products are so sleek, minimalist and sophisticated; they’re like the sex toy equivalent of Eve from Wall-E. I honestly would not blink if I saw them at the Apple store. Once, I was casually browsing my local spot when the friend I was with mentioned that the Ovo toys looked like futuristic kitchen devices. “If I saw this next to someone’s toaster, I would have no idea,” he said. “I feel like I need to re-evaluate every fancy appliance I’ve ever seen.”

Ovo has a wide range of vibrating lifestyle toys. Their products are all (somewhat confusingly) designated with letters and numbers, and the only penis toys they currently manufacture are their C-rings. I got a chance to give the Ovo B10 a spin with a partner, and we had some good experiences! But would we recommend it?

First Impressions

The Ovo B10 takes a no-frills approach to packaging. The C-ring sings inside a little moulded plastic window that is affixed to a cardboard sheet with some very discreet (bordering on vague) instructions printed on the back. It’s just as clean and minimal as the design of the ring, which is sort of wedge-shaped and tapers in an elegant fashion down to the stretchy ring. The entire thing is constructed from body-safe silicone, save for the ABS plastic bullet that is operated by two watch batteries. Watch batteries are fiddly and annoying at the best of times, but at least the Ovo B10 comes with a set to start you out. You squish the silicone top until the bullet ploops out, remove the bit of paper that prevents the batteries from accidentally draining, and you’re good to go.

FYI: the Ovo B10 is listed as “showerproof,” due to the little bullet. The silicone makes a pretty good seal over it, only revealing the silver button, but I can imagine that being fully submersed would negate this pretty fast.

In Use

My partner and I have what can be described (at least for hetero couples) as an ‘unconventional’ sex life. We don’t engage in penetrative, P-in-V sex at all. However, we wanted to see if a C-ring would add an extra element of fun to partnered grinding. The Ovo B10’s silicone ring stretches to go over the shaft comfortably, although we did use a little water-based lube to aid the process, and we were in a great situation with each other to start with, so we had a good, giggly time. But this particular C-ring definitely did more for him than it did for me.

For a start, the bullet’s vibrations are buzzy and dampened by the silicone to the extent that they feel very weak. They can only really be felt on the ring itself, and don’t transfer well to the penis at all. The shape of the ring is also a bit of an impediment (at least for how we were using it), creating a sharp and jabby grinding experience until I flipped it to the side and sort of held it in place with my hand. The vibrations were so weak that even with all the right stimulation I wasn’t able to reach climax. We also had to stop at one point to screw the cap more firmly onto the bullet when it came loose inside the ring-top.

The wearer gets it a little easier, enjoying the extra sensitivity created by the trapped bloodflow. This makes any manual stimulation feel extra good, especially when there is lube in play. The constriction is extra nice for those who enjoy a tight grip during masturbation, although the vibrations won’t do much for stimulating penises either.

Clean-up is simple; a good wash with soap and water on the ring, and a wipe-down for the bullet and when they are dry, you’re all set for the next time.

Final Thoughts

We really enjoyed using this toy, but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone that likes vibration. The bullet provided is far too weak to be useful to the average consumer, although the ring itself is well-designed. Also, watch batteries are annoying AF.

If you are on the market for an affordable C-ring that will give you an idea of what things could be like if they were better, The Ovo B10 is the way forward. But I would skip straight to a better investment.
