After an awesome experience with Slippery Stuff’s Silicone lubricant, I thought the series would be a great addition to my bedside drawer. Yet, I recently tried Slippery Stuff’s Gel and Liquid water-based lubricants, and they weren’t nearly as awesome as their silicone sibling. Messy, runny, then sticky, and leaving a residue – this is one lube you want to steer clear from.

Big Packaging

Slippery Stuff Personal Lubricant Gel was shipped in a 16fl oz white pump bottle with blue lettering alongside its almost twin, a 16fl oz bottle of Slippery Stuff’s Personal Lubricant Liquid (same bottle, purple lettering.) The bottles look official, almost like they’re for medical use only. I can’t imagine the look on a guy’s face as I casually struggle to pull either of these bottles from my nightstand drawer, or his face as he walks in my room and sees them ready for some pump and go action just sitting on top the stand next to my lamp and charging cell phone.

Messy Application

While you won’t be able to pack these large bottles in your carry on, they do look official and appealing and the pump handle is a huge check in the “yes” category. Unfortunately when I slide the pump to open product oozes from the cap in exactly the place it shouldn’t… boom, a mess. This happened to both product bottles, and in both cases, it didn’t spill down the sides too much so I was able to scoop it up and use it anyways. Both lubricants are odorless and almost tasteless which can be a plus depending on what you’re looking for… however, they both left a strange film in my mouth that left me wanting to brush my teeth right away.

Slipping & Sliding

Pumping the product onto the skin found the gel almost reacting like an ice cube sliding down your leg; it didn’t stay in place well. Once spread it was silky and productive, but it didn’t last long and absorbed almost like a lotion. Doing the same with the liquid resulted in endless giggles. The product sat in my hand, a gooey slipping and sliding puddle that at first I thought I could contain. When I went to rub my hands together I lost about halfway down my bedspread, and the rest stuck like spider webs, sticky lube strings all over my hand and the rest sliding down my bedspread like spilled molasses. The stretchy tendrils in my hands got longer and longer, and finally, I was able to get to a sink and untangle myself from the sticky liquid cobweb.

Pros & Cons

Ingredients of Gel:  Deionized water, Polyoxyethylene, Sodium-carbomer, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin.

Ingredients of Liquid: Deionized Water, Propylene Glycol, Isopropanol, Polyethylene Oxide, Methylparaben.

Overall

Both products once controlled and rubbed in were never sticky, which is a huge plus. There is a warning on the product to keep away from the eyes, which always deters me from using it alongside oral sex just to be safe. I would also take the Gel over the Liquid for safety’s sake. Yet, neither product is a great option for play, as they’re not long lasting, slip and slide all over, and can get sticky. I definitely wouldn’t recommend it.
