This past year has been a huge whirlwind of excitement for Slutty Girl Problems, and as the end of the year approaches… I’ve been looking back at where we came from.
Last January 10th, 2014 – I started this website as a dream. It took two and a half years of tweeting – and 6 months of crowd funding, campaigning, and working odd jobs – to fund a website that I wasn’t sure would work out. Fresh out of college, I pulled out all my savings and bar tending tips to make this site, and wasn’t even sure if people would visit.
I took a serious gamble, and now looking back, I’m so glad I dedicated all my time to making Slutty Girl Problems. It was hard, discouraging, and at times felt like it would have to shut down at any moment… but persistence paid off!
As the site grew and sluts from all over the world came to share their stories – I knew our Illuminaughty community was truly something special. In just one year, our voices have begun to be heard as we make a stand against slut-shaming, and reclaim that nasty word as something positive and empowering, rather than degrading and demeaning.
My dream to create a community to help other women, assure them that our sexuality is totally normal, and to not feel ashamed one bit about it…. a community where we can laugh about our lives, give each other tips, and help each other feel confident and empowered….. is finally coming to life, and touching more lives than I thought possible.
In just one year…
We’ve reached over 548,000 people in 22 countries, with a total of 2,185,000 page views. We also have 2,700 members on site, 310,000 followers worldwide, and growing support!
We were named the #6 Top Sex Blog of 2014 by Kinkly – an achievement I truly never expected, and would not have thought would be possible. It is absolutely incredible to be listed among some of the top, most well-respect sex bloggers out there… many of whom I look up to, admire, and have been reading well before I started Slutty Girl Problems.
We were honored with 2014 Educational Post of the Year 2nd Runner Up for Bitch Brunette’s awesome Slutty Girl’s Ultimate Guide to BlowJobs. Unbelievable!
Our writing was featured in Metro UK, one of the UK’s leading publications, over 10 times.
We had several incredible guest bloggers from all aspects of the sex industry.
And continue to grow and explore new ventures!
It is an absolute dream come true to be recognized for all our efforts, and to grow this incredible community.
