The Design

The Thruster comes in 4 varieties, each of which has 6.5 inches of insertable length, a flexible shaft up to 90 degrees that can mold and bend for your pleasure, ten adjustable thrusting speeds up to 140 thrusts per minute, a 3-inch thrust distance. All the toys are made high-quality, silky smooth, body-safe silicone, are water resistant for easy cleaning (although not submersible, so don’t bring them in the bath) and can be easily recharged for up to 8 hours of play.

The difference lies in the design, each with its own unique silicone exterior to give you different internal sensations. We tried the Frankie, which features a smooth 1.5 inch tapered head for comfortable and easy insertion, then has a series of ripples for extra sensation down the shaft. This is a classic, sleek, streamlined design that’s perfectly built to please. The Jackie has a similarly tapered 1.5-inch head with a natural, veiny penis shape throughout the toy. The next two toys in the Thruster line are even more unique. The Abbey is a stylishly designed to mimic a retro vibrator from the 80s. Instead of thrusting yourself with your favorite toy or getting a suction cup to create the motion with your body movements, this toy does it for you with just the touch of a button. It’s powerful, portable, and completely pleasurable. The controls also light up with different colors in the dark, so you can easily adjust the settings and see which power mode you’re on. The toy is rechargeable via a magnetic charger, with up to 8 hours of battery life, depending on your preferred speed.

Trying this toy, my immediate reaction was that this toy is loud and proud. It has a distinct mechanical, robotic sound that heightens its pitch as the toy gets faster. This is definitely to be expected of such a powerful toy – it’s hard to avoid a sound when you’re holding what’s essentially a pleasure power tool! If you have roommates, this will definitely be a toy to save for when no one’s home.

Playing with the toy definitely exceeded all of my expectations. Once you apply a liberal amount of water-based lube to the shaft, you’re ready to start playing. The gently tapered head is very easy to insert. I’d recommend starting at a slow speed and working up to faster speeds. You want to give your body plenty of time to adjust to this unique sensation! The 3-inch thrust might not seem like a lot at first, but as you work up to higher speeds, the sensation becomes more and more intense. I found that the mid-range of speeds was completely pleasurable, and the higher speeds a bit too much for me (though, I’m glad to have the option to work up to them!)

Using this toy myself was a bit of a challenge at first. It’s a fairly heavy toy with a long shaft and heavy based, so maneuvering it plus its thrusting motion around my vagina took a little negotiation. That said, the flexible shaft made the experience much easier, because you can work the design with your body to get into a comfortable position. Once positioned comfortably, you can hold onto the toy or position it with props (think, between pillows or cushions) to make the experience fairly hands-free. Personally, I preferred using this toy with a partner because they could easily place it in the right position no matter what position I was in, and control the depth and power of the thrust without my involvement. (aka; totally passive pleasure)

The Velvet Thruster is one of the most unique toys I have ever experienced. I have always been in awe of sex machines that promise an intense experience – so having a handheld, portable, relatively inexpensive version right in my nightstand drawer is basically a fantasy come true. I love that this toy can be used solo or with a partner to get that unique thrusting sensation. I especially love incorporating this toy into fetish play (like, forced orgasms in bondage).
