Silky Oil-like Silicone Lube

I just recently got into silicone lubes, while searching for long-lasting and silky lubes that would match my body’s chemistry without any nasty chemicals. But, all lubes are not created equal. Even with silicone lubes, you run the risk of them being being sticky, hard to clean up, and leaving a residue. But, I think I lucked out when trying Wet Platinum Silicone lube – because it’s definitely one of the best lubricant I’ve tried. This particular lube is soft and silky – with a smooth and thin oil texture that doesn’t get sticky or tacky during use. It also leaves no uncomfortable film or residue, and can be used in the shower since it repels water! Of course, there are a few downfalls of silicone lube, which I’ll talk about below… but if you’re really looking for something that can keep up with your marathon sex sessions, this type of personal lubricant is totally the way to go. Throw out the KY Jelly! It’s reasonably priced, high-quality, and gives me no uncomfortable feeling or reaction at all. Best of all – you don’t have to go to a specialty store to get it. It’s available online, and also at a bunch of nationwide stores, listed below. I’d totally recommend it!

Benefits of Silicone

Wet Platinum is a silicone blend that is totally free of the toxic chemicals I tend to steer clear from. Most water-based lubes have glycerin, parabens, propylene glycol, and other toxic ingredients that usually give me (and many other women) an itching, burning, and all around painful reaction. As I searched for alternatives to lubes with these chemicals, silicone lube stood out among the rest. Not only was it free from the chemicals I resent, but it has a bunch of benefits that you can’t get with water-based lubes. Silicone lubes tend to be very long-lasting, non-drying, and have a smoother and silkier feel than most other lubes on the market. They are usually recommended for long sex sessions and especially anal sex, because they have such a comfortable glide. They’re designed to keep going as long as you do – and likely even longer. Since it’s not water-based, you can use it in the shower Wet Platinum has all these awesome benefits, and is also condom safe and also leaves no residue. Unfortunately, all things come with a price – and silicone lube has a few downfalls that can’t be overlooked. Silicone leaves a terrible lube stain that can’t be explained by other, more PG accident – and it can’t be washed out. That means your sheets, clothes, and lingerie are not safe. Prepare to wear something you don’t really care about, or take it off well before use. Lay down a towel, old t-shirt, or some crappy sheets before getting it on to make sure you don’t ruin those classy Egyptian thread counts, or your favorite panties. Once you’re got your sex surface covered, you’re ready to go! Since it’s entirely made of silicone, and totally repels water (making it great for shower sex) cleanup is a bit trickier. You can’t just wash it off with water to get the silky oil off your body. Instead, you’ll need some soap and scrubbing to do the trick – though, you could turn that bath time into sex, too!

What’s it like?

Wet Platinum is one of the best silicone lubricants that I’ve tried so far. It gives a totally smooth connection and glide that didn’t get tacky and was easy to clean up after without any film or residue. In fact, my body actually felt a bit softer and more moisturized after using it. But, it does feel a bit thinner, runnier, and more watery than most other lubricants. It actually feels more like a massage oil, and tends to run everywhere after pouring a bit out. This can make it tough to apply it exactly where you want it – and if you’re applying it with your hands, be sure to have a towel nearby to wipe them off – or this lube will definitely be spreading everywhere. Because it’s so thin, it also tends to wear off and dry up slightly during intense use.

When I was using it with my partner in a marathon hour long session, it didn’t stand the test of time, and wasn’t as long-lasting as I was expecting. I had to keep applying it to myself and my partner to keep the action going. But once we were in motion, it was definitely worth the wait. The smooth oil consistency felt really natural, and not like a strange texture was in the way of my pleasure. When I used it by myself with a toy, I found it was easier to keep me going without applying more. After, I even felt slightly moisturized and wet for the rest of the day.

Perhaps using it with a partner allowed it to seep into both of our skin, but when used alone, there was less surface area for it to get lost on – and it was able to keep doing its job. While most silicone lubes are great for anal sex, this particular lube wouldn’t be my go-to choice. I feel like it’s a bit too thin and doesn’t give me the thick, gel-like buffer I need to have comfortable anal sex. I also would hate to have to reapply even more than I already do during anal, if it starts to dry up (which could be pretty painful). I’d recommend more of a thick, gel lube that won’t dry up and can give you some extra glide if you’re charting into anal territory, and want something that can withstand the ride.

Overall

Silicone lubricant is one of a kind – in that it’s soft, silky, smooth, and relatively long-lasting, especially compared to water based lube. It’s qualities make it perfect for marathon sex sessions – although it may be a bit too thin for marathon anal. Wet Platinum lives up to the silicone and “platinum” name – with a high-quality texture that mimics a gentle gliding oil, and doesn’t get gooey during use. It’s also odorless and tasteless. It takes a few pumps to keep it lasting as long as you want it, but the extra effort is well worth the result. Like most other silicone lubes, it runs the risk of staining your favorite lingerie or sheets and ruining your silicone toys, but if you’re careful to lay down a towel and save your silicone toys for another session, you’ll have a great experience with Wet Platinum. It’s reasonably priced, high-quality, and gives me no uncomfortable feeling or reaction at all. Best of all – you don’t have to go to a specialty store to get it. It’s available online and also at a bunch of nationwide stores, listed below. I’d totally recommend it!
