Texture

Aside from the body-safe ingredients of Almost Naked Lube, my favorite feature is that this lube is long-lasting and creamy, with a natural feel that doesn’t get sticky or leave a weird film to clean up. It has a different consistency than other lubes I’ve used. Most lubes come out of the tube very wet, watery, and slippery. Then, they can either get sticky or tacky the more you use them – or seem to dry up instantly after being applied. Worst of all, they can leave a sticky, uncomfortable film that leaves you running to the shower after sex to wash it off before it turns into a melted lollipop sensation. Instead, Almost Naked comes out a bit more like a gel. Surprisingly, after using it internally, it feels very natural – like a creamy lubrication you may have during ovulation (if you’re not on birth control). A little goes a long way – and this lube is truly long lasting. But, it is definitely a thicker type of lube with a creamy feeling… so if you prefer something a bit lighter that will dry up right away after sex – it may not be for you.

The best part about the texture is that it didn’t leave any nasty, sticky, dry film anywhere on my body – outside, inside, or even on my fingers and sheets. It dries without any film on the outside of my body – but the moisture inside keeps the lube going for a very long time. I tried it on just my fingers and confirmed that the lube does dry without a film, but a bit of extra moisture (like a lick or spit) can get even the dry area actively lubricated again. On the outside during sex, it can get a bit sticky before it dries… but that gross “gotta wash it off me” feeling never happened for me. Instead, it felt like the normal messy sensation from a lot of very active sex – rather than something synthetic getting in the way. I can imagine that if you use too much, the thick sensation could get a bit messy… but a little goes a long way here, and I needed less than a dime’s worth for an entire steamy session.

Scent & Taste

Unfortunately, not everything in this world can be perfect – not even this long lost love of my life lube. The Almost Naked Lube has a stronger taste and scent than I was expecting. I was expecting it to smell like nothing at all – but instead, it has a sweet, tart lemony vanilla scent and taste – that is almost a bit like a fruity fro-yo. While this probably wouldn’t bother most people, it is a slight bother to me – as it’s just a bit too sweet and scented for my liking. I would rather my lube have no scent at all. But I really can’t complain, because this is the first lube that’s worked for me… ever… and the first that doesn’t leave me burning, itching, and in pain during and up to days after sex. 

Pros & Cons

Overall

I’m so thankful I found Good Clean Love’s Almost Naked Lubricant. At the risk of sounding over-zealous, this lubricant gave me back my sex life, and for that, I am forever grateful. Unlike other lubes, it doesn’t dry up quickly, get tacky, or leave a nasty film that you need to clean up after – it doesn’t leave me in pain – and it mimic my natural lubrication pre-allergies. My only complaint is the strong sweet scent and taste, which I would have preferred to be more neutral. It is also a bit expensive for a tiny bottle ($10 for 1.5 oz) but, a little does go a long way with this lube – and Good Clean Love is a growing company who is charting a path for natural body-safe lubricants, and unlike huge companies like KY, they really need the funding to continue. At the end of the day, I no longer have pain during of after sex – which is truly priceless. Good Clean Love is definitely my go-to lube, and I couldn’t recommend it enough.
