Vivacious, with tons of talent, Whitney Wright is a relatively new face taking the adult industry by storm! This Mid-Western beauty had a successful career in stripping before making the move to XXX films, and has quickly began paving the way to stardom.
We had the pleasure of getting a more intimate look at what she enjoys most about being in the industry, how she overcomes slut-shaming, and more – plus, some of her best sex tips!
What inspired you to get into the adult industry?
I really had no solid plan, I just submitted my photos and stats to an agency and hoped for the best. The first time I went to Los Angeles, I did my first couple of scenes and I loved it! I was still a little nervous about everyone finding out, so I decided to stop doing it if it didn’t work with me anymore. Everyone eventually found out, but at that point I didn’t care. I loved what I was doing. I loved making my own hours, making 3 times as much as I did working at my old pharmacy job, and getting to do such a liberating, risqué job. I had already dabbled in exhibitionism before porn, the idea that thousands of people all over the world would be getting off to watching me have sex was unbelievably hot to me.
Have you experience slut-shaming since making the decision? And if so, how do you overcome it?
I have, yes. I think its something that most women endure in their daily lives as well. I experienced it before porn, during porn, and I have no doubt that people will continue to attempt to slut shame me when I move on to another field of work. That is one of the ugly sides of being a female in the porn industry. It usually comes from men (although women do it too) who I have never met or talked to, trying to belittle me on the internet. It used to affect me; however, now any attempt to shame me for what I do for a living or what I wear is usually met with my blocking them. I refuse to give those people my time or attention. The bottom line is, women should be able to wear what they want, do what they want, and fuck who they want, without ridicule. A man can go out and have countless partners, if a woman does the same thing, she is deemed a “slut” or a “whore”. The double standard kills me, and if you’re a female who does porn, you’re made to be a target of this type of harassment almost every day. I’ve always said, if someone is doing something that is not hurting you or anyone else, why bother them? If you don’t like porn, don’t watch it. If you don’t like me, don’t watch my scenes. People who attempt to slut shame me only point out flaws in their own character. I respect every kind of sex worker so much. How many people do you know that could go out on their own, actually be successful, build a fan base/ clientele, and accumulate a continuous income all from using their own bodies and sexuality?
What are your favorite scenes to perform and why?
I love all of the scenes that I do, but my favorites to perform are lesbian scenes, or threesomes. I also love doing anal scenes. I like doing scenes with another girl because the vibe is really nice and relaxed, plus I love how sensual they are. Threesomes are fun because there’s a lot of energy in them and each person is always doing something interesting. I also love anal scenes, specifically because there’s so many fun anal toys that I like to use, and those types of scenes end up being the most exciting!
How has being in porn positively impacted your personal relationship and sex life?
I definitely feel like being in porn has helped me embrace my sexuality and become even more confident. I feel like you have to be confident to be in porn, no matter your body type. If you aren’t confident, people can tell. It shows in the scene. The more confident I became in my body, my performances, and myself— the more successful I became. Plus, the more I did anal on camera, the more I was able to do it in my personal life, and vice versa.
What tips do you have for girl looking to explore their sexuality, but don’t know where to start?
I would say that, as hard as it seems, you’d almost need to develop a mentality of “fuck what people think”. If you want to go out and party and hook up with a different guy every week, do it! If you’re wanting to have a threesome, there’s apps for that where you can meet people interested in the same thing! If people want to put you down or talk behind your back for you doing what makes you happy and embracing your sexuality, then ignore them and continue to live your fabulous life of going about your business and doing whatever the fuck you want. Anyone who makes you feel bad for it is secretly jealous, doesn’t understand, is judgmental, or just wants to fuck you. So I would say to explore what you like, and just go from there. I went from watching porn, to stripping at a club, to living in Los Angeles and doing porn for a living. I wouldn’t have done a single thing differently, but that was my path to go down! Find what excites you, and go from there.
If you could give three tips for stepping up your Skype sex game, what would they be?
Make it fun! Pretend like you were there with the person you’re Skyping with. Put on some sultry music, buy your favorite bottle of wine, light some candles, put on a sexy bra and panty set and throw a robe on over it. Get comfortable and even bring in a vibrator to pull out for the Skype session if you feel like it.
How do you like to spend your free time?
Free time is… subjective. I’ll either post on my other platforms that I make money on when I’m not shooting, or I’ll check website forums and talk to my fans. I promote my new scenes a lot. If I’m not doing anything related to porn or work, I like to exercise. I typically go to the gym and lift weights, run, or go to my Pop Physique class in the mornings. I love going to the beach, because its just a 45 minute drive from where I live. I love shopping, my one vice, and when I get a long stretch of days off, I love traveling! It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do ever since I was young. So whenever I get the chance to go, I pack everything in a carry on and take off by myself to Europe, Asia, anywhere! That’s my biggest passion.
Do you have any upcoming projects we can look forward to?
I have two big features with Digital Playground coming out soon, along with a plethora of new scenes. Awards season is coming up as well, and I’m definitely working my ass off for some nominations. Any other new things that come up, I post about on my Instagram (instagram.com/whitneywrightxo) or Twitter (twitter.com/whitneywrightx).
