KY Yours and Mine is a product that really intrigued me, yet didn’t live up to the hype. I have to say, I was a little disappointed. The product works, that’s for sure. It’s not too sticky, it doesn’t drip, and the two lubricants separately are very different. Yet, the sensations of each don’t work very well – and neither lubricant is body safe nor condom compatible, which simply doesn’t make sense for regular practical use with casual partners. (“Couples” doesn’t always mean monogamous, KY!) Overall, we’d recommend using a different sensation lube, like those from our favorite brand Wicked.

Note: This product is no longer available, and we don’t recommend it anyway. We recommend Wicked instead.

The product comes in two separate 1.5oz tubes, one blue (his) and one purple (hers). The product top snaps open like a lotion and slides out with a slight squeeze and it stays where you put it! It’s not watery yet it’s not too thick. According to KY you’re supposed to wait until the moment is right and apply the product, it is NOT condom safe so this is not the type of product you slap on to ease penetration, this is something that is supposed to be planned and most importantly, fun.

The “his” bottle smells amazing! I don’t know how to place the scent, but I want to lick it and when I do, it tastes amazing. (The ingredients for “his” lists “honey”, this explains a lot. Yet, honey can also cause yeast infections, sooo….) It’s supposed to be a warming product, but I’m not really feeling that aspect of it. The “hers” bottle smells like muscle rub. It’s very menthol and it’s supposed to provide a simple tingle. That it does, (on both the skin and the tongue) but it’s not very long lasting and I wonder if this is what it feels like to put Bengay on your private parts. It also doesn’t taste very good. It’s a bit slimier than “his”.

Ingredients

It’s worth nothing that both products contain parabens, glycerine, and propylene glycol – all of which are considered not body-safe, and are known to cause skin irritation.

Yours for him: Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Maltodextrin, Honey (miel), Methylparaben, Sucralose.

Mine for her: Water, Propylene Glycol, Polysorbate 20, Hydrxyethylcellulose, Benzoic Acid, Menthyl Lactate, Methyl Salicylate, Fragrance, Sodium Hydroxide.

Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Non-Staining
  • Toy friendly
  • Long Lasting
  • Doesn’t drip

Cons:

  • Leaky Container over time
  • Menthol on “hers” is a little aggressive
  • Not compatible with condoms
  • Ingredients are not body-safe

Overall

And now for the big payoff—what happens when the two products mix and “ignite”? Together I feel as though the “hers” was overpowering. The menthol scent and tingle fades over time but at first is very strong and I couldn’t really focus on any warmth. Because of this I have given “hers” and “his” different heart ratings, and overall, while both get the job done, for something not condom compatible I feel like “his” wins out for flavor alone and could be used in foreplay for either partner.
