Minx Vibrator Review

The Vibrator of the Stars

When I first came across Shiri Zinn’s gorgeous line of sex toys, I was impressed and awe-struck at their beautiful, high-quality designs. We’ve all seen vibrators with a high price tag that leave us wondering if the “designers” were really even designers at all. Often times, it seems like toys are designed by men, who have no concept of our anatomy, let alone our taste for aesthetic beauty. Of course, all women are different – some divas (like me) prefer everything to be pink glitz and glamour; others prefer the smoldering heat of reds and black; while others still prefer neutral or relaxing earth tones. Yet, beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, and colors – and UK-based designer Shiri Zinn truly understands that concept, bringing it to life with sophistication, fashion, and glamour through each and every one of her deliciously designed luxury toys.

Shiri Zinn is an expert in fashionable luxury toys, and exudes passion when talking about her work. With 10 years of education in Fine Arts, Fashion Design, and Jewelry for Fashion – she is well known as the adult toy designer for the stars. Her unique product line, unparalleled by mainstream designers, exemplifies luxury with high-quality materials and gorgeous designs all draped with timeless class. Her toys are owned by celebrities including Angelina Jolie, Baby Spice, Ivana Trump, Kate Moss, and many more. Gorgeous vibrators, harnesses, and various types of toys are displayed across her site – many dressed in gold, Swarovski crystals, molten solid glass, and natural quartz crystal – showing her love for the finest things in life. The Minx in particular is a gorgeous example of her work – and surprisingly affordable even for the budget of a young 20-something, looking for a luxury vibe. It is beautifully crafted with a powerful motor, and stunning details that truly make you feel like a celebrity.

Gorgeous Artistic Design

The Minx, to me, is much more than a sex toy. It’s a piece of art that I would be proud to display on my nightstand… that is, if I had a gorgeous night stand amid a lovely modern luxury apartment in the upper east side, overlooking the park, with gold lined curtains. In fact, her pieces have been displayed in the Museum of Sex in NYC, Barbican Art Gallery in London, LA Erotic Museum, and many more… but I digress. Shiri anticipated that her designs would be displayed, offering an engraved silver stand alongside the Minx for a small additional cost. If you prefer to keep your toys neatly tucked away, have no fear. The Minx automatically comes in a beautiful pink snakeskin box with a soft pink satin lined interior, perfect for storing your work of erotic art while it’s not in use for more sensation-driven pleasures. This box is a huge high-quality upgrade from most of the storage options I’ve seen. Usually, manufacturers offer no storage solution at all – with simple rip-open plastic bags and boxes that are typical among low-end toys. Even more expensive retailers and brands tend to use simple, cheap pouches that could be bought at the dollar store – which pale in comparison to this gorgeous box, perfectly designed to hold a gorgeous toy.

Sensual Marabou Tail

As I opened the box, it aesthetics of the Minx took my breath away. I am rarely enamored of my sex toys, let alone so much to talk about them so reverently, but the Minx captured my heart with its girly yet glamorous appearance. Each aspect of the toy caught my attention, but before I could check it out as a whole, my eyes and hands glided to the marabou feather tail – easily the focal point and claim to fame of this vibrator. The tail itself is just under a foot long, made of luxuriously soft feathers that are simply irresistible. It is much softer than a feather boa’s texture, though I have nothing else to compare it to – except perhaps a very well-groomed chinchilla. Yet unlike feather boas or other feather accessories I’ve had, which tend to leave a trail of molted feathers and fur behind you, these feathers don’t fall off or shed at all. It holds together well even during play, and is clearly very high-quality to be able to withstand quick motions.

You can even detach the tail – which comes in handy if you’re cleaning the upper part of the toy, and fear the tail getting wet and soapy. But if you have a naughtier mind like me, you can use the tail on its own for some sensory play, tickling the sensitive intimate spots along your body, either solo or with a partner. To detach the tail, Shiri says, “it comes off simply by holding toy firmly in one hand in a horizontal direction and pulling tail (top end near diamond section, not bottom tip of tail) with mildly firm grip in  opposite direction very slowly. It slides out very slowly. If wanting to pull it off with more ease the second time, simply put some oil based lube or any cosmetic oil on tip of your finger and dab sparingly over surface of little silver tube on tail end. This way it slides in & out more easily.” Shiri also mentions that the removal should be done with care, and is often unnecessary for cleaning and general use. But, you do have the option if you so choose. Personally, I love the look of the tail so much that I would be heart-broken to mess anything up, and will be keeping my tail on during play and a gentle cleaning. The best option according the Shiri, “You’re either a no frills or a frills girl. If frilly and very sensual, keep it on!”

Swarovski Crystals

Attached to the marabou tail is a stainless steel silver-mirror finished cap lined with 12 glimmering pink Swarovski crystals. If you haven’t yet been acquainted, Swarovski creates nearly flawless, precision-cut, luxury crystals that shine with a brilliance only matched by that of diamonds. Also, unlike the haphazardly placed bedazzles on my festival bras, these crystals are securely fastened. The original designed master setting was done by an expert gem-setter who doubles as diamond setters for Debeers Award Trophies. Now that’s fancy.

Smooth Polished Pink Vibrator

The vibrator itself it made of smooth, hand finished and painstakingly polished medical standard polycarbonate plastic. The material is so luxurious that I initially thought it was a new material entirely. Everything about this toy exudes perfection, and Shiri Zinn was spot-on with a unique material that would match the vibrator’s glamorous appearance. The material is perfectly smooth with no imperfections, and although it is a hard material, it has a texture that is much more pleasing to the touch than other plastics or ceramic. I can’t help but run my fingers along it’s smooth exterior, with slow waves for a bit of extra sensation. My particular Minx is the color pink, but you can also get the Minx in red, with a red tail – and black, with a pink-spotted black tail. All are equally gorgeous – it just depends on your preference!

Beyond the material, the design of the Minx is wonderful for internal pleasure. Unlike other materials, plastic is compatible with all types of lubricants, and has a solid weight to it when held in your hands. Although it is a substantial sturdy weight, it’s not overpoweringly heavy, and instead gives you nice control and stimulation when using the toy internally. The insertable length of the toy is just over 6 inches long, with a gently rounded tip (1.5 inches across, 3.75 inches around) that makes insertion easy. Then, there are a few gentle waves along the shaft of the toy, each gradually increasing in girth. The first bump is the most prominent, at 1.75 inches across, 5 inches around – which feels wonderful when gently moving the toy while inserted. It’s perfect for stimulating your most sensitive areas, without being so large as to be uncomfortable. The toy gradually moves up to its largest girth at the base, 2 inches across, 6 inches around, which would likely not be insertable for most women, as it’s very high up on the toy. Even so, as you continue to insert the Minx, its size has a wonderful “fullness” feeling which, when matched with the rumbly vibrations inside, is immensely pleasurable.

Battery & Controls

Below the cap lies the base of the shaft, a round cap along the edge of the toy that serves as the battery compartment and controls. To turn on and increase the vibration speed, you simply turn the cap clockwise. To reduce the speed, turn counter clockwise. This turn-dial base is perfect for getting the precise speed you desire, and switching it up at a moment’s notice without having to cycle through different speeds or patterns. Upon opening the black cap, one sees the battery compartment inside the shaft. The Minx comes with 2 “C” cell batteries, which are larger and stronger than AA or most other toy batteries. It is recommended that this toy be used with Duracell batteries, which are just a fraction thicker than other C cells (0.5mm). With these particular batteries, the Minx’s vibration is said to last close to 100 hours. That’s a huge shelf life for a toy! With that kind of long-lasting power, you shouldn’t have to change the batteries on your Minx for quite some time. But when you’re ready to get a new pair of batteries, simply turn the black cap anti-clockwise (the direction away from the vibration) to unscrew the battery chamber. The batteries are tightly wrapped in battery paper to prevent rattling, and should be used with any new sets of batteries. The batteries are a tight fit inside the shaft due to the battery paper, so just shake the open shaft a few times in a downward direction, and they’ll slide out.

Cleaning & Care

Unfortunately, the Minx is not waterproof – even after removing the marabou tail, so err on the side of caution when using and cleaning your toy. It is truly a luxury toy, and should be handled as such. The lower vibrator portion is 100% splash-proof, and can be easily cleaned with a gentle antibacterial soap and warm water, your favorite toy wipes, or a gentle toy cleaner. But, beware of doing a deep, thorough clean with water. Do not splash the split section near the black cap with water; though wipes can be used on this area if needed after insertion. Also, do not use bleach, alcohol, or any other harsh chemicals on your toy – as it could degrade the material, or at the very least, ruin the shiny finish.

Vibration & Power

The Minx was much more powerful than I was expecting. Although most high-quality, designer vibes tend to have strong vibrations, I made the incorrect assumption that the high-quality design was based more on the appearance and design than the power of the motor itself. But, I was incredibly wrong. The vibrations of the Minx are much more powerful than the light, beginner vibes I assumed it would have. Instead, they were powerful and rumbly, the perfect frequency for pin-point strong orgasms. The vibrations are strongest in the lower half of the toy, but can be felt strongly throughout the rest. Best of all, the vibrations are controlled by a turn dial base, so you can control the exact intensity of the vibration you’re seeking, rather than having pre-set settings – from a gentle rumble, to a full-on experience. With this, I think it’d be perfect for beginners and experienced users alike – and it has definitely reached the ranks of my more high-powered vibes. The motor is very quiet, and at its highest setting, can still just barely be heard through a thin door, if you’re pressing your ear against it. The material manages to muffle the sound, without diluting the vibration.

Overall

The Minx certainly stands out with a gorgeous design, stunning details, and unexpectedly strong motor designed to deliver powerful orgasms. The vibrator is well-sized, comfortable, and designed with pleasure in mind – making it perfect for a beginner or experienced gal looking to treat herself to something luxurious. That said, the Minx is truly a luxury toy, and designed to be not only a toy – but a work of art. It makes you feel like a celebrity as you experience sensual, romantic, and erotic pleasures. While it’s reasonably priced for such a gorgeous quality, it’s certainly not in everyone’s price range, and truly designed for the girl looking to have a glamorous erotic couture experience in the bedroom. If you’re the girl who seeks the royal treatment, this toy is absolutely for you!
