JO’s Dona Kissable Massage Candle in strawberry souffle smells like something I want to ingest and bathe in at the same time. It’s a soy candle that’s scented to basically make you smell like Strawberry Shortcake (that doll from the 80’s). Plus, it’s infused with aphrodisiacs and pheromones, which encourage a sexual response in the body and make people more attracted to you, respectively. The wax doubles as a lotion that you can use for massaging yourself or a partner, and it doesn’t get hot enough to hurt your skin, so you can pour it on gently without fear. If you’re looking for something cheap to spice up your self-care routine or life in the bedroom, this candle is a reasonable, sensual buy.

The Experience

I let the candle burn about an hour before I used the product the first time, because I didn’t know how long it would take to get enough wax melted enough to massage onto my body. An hour was plenty of time, so I blew out the candle and started pouring the wax on myself, expecting it to hurt (I like wax play), but it didn’t hurt! It just felt like a little bit too hot hot-tub temperature on my skin and it felt lovely.

While the candle didn’t leave a noticeable scent in my room, when I spread it on my hands, the lotion/wax smelled like absolute heaven. It went on smoothly and left a somewhat greasy sheen on my skin, but not in a yucky way. Unfortunately, the smell didn’t last on my skin for more than 20 minutes or so, at which time it started to smell artificial-y. Perhaps artifical-y smell doesn’t bother other people, but I’m an organic hippie, so to each their own.

As for its kissability, it didn’t taste like much, kind of like a very weak strawberry chapstick. It was pleasant enough, but not delicious.

Pros & Cons

Overall

I didn’t fall in love with this massage candle, but I’ll keep it around because I’m one of those bitches that loves candles. Maybe if I get a partner who I actually like in the near future, I’ll use it to rub their shoulders after a long day and hope it turns into a long night. The product fit squarely within the expectations I had, minus that it wasn’t organic. If you aren’t a picky hippie like me, and are looking for a reasonably priced massage candle, this will probably work great for you.
