With Liquor Lube, Hott Products set out to combine two of our favorite places… the bar and the bedroom. This personal lubricant is meant to be a tasty addition to oral sex, taking on the flavors of some of the most delicious cocktails, which is why I couldn’t wait to give it a try in Bahama Mama. Even more, while I received a sample pack, they also come in 4 oz bottles shaped like those you’d find lining the shelves of your dearest watering hole. But my expectations were far from met! It not only lacked tremendously in the flavor department, but left a biting, unpleasant taste in my mouth. And while there is some good in this water-based lube, it definitely won’t leave either partner wanting to eat the other one up.

Not-So-Fun Taste

The first thing I noticed was the pretty, deep aqua blue tint of this lube, which is much more reminiscent of a Bahama Blue than the bright fiery tone Bahama Mama’s have. Even so, I was excited to give it a try, expecting to experience a burst of fruity goodness. But I got borderline unbearable bitterness instead. There was nothing reminding me of the sweet flavors that make up the cocktail this lube inspired to taste like. And while Liquor Lube is non alcoholic, the unpleasant aftertaste was similar to that from taking a straight shot of not-so-decent well liquor.

Smooth Texture

One thing I do really like about this lube is its light, slippery feel. It’s somewhat runny, but thick enough that it has the perfect amount of body to its form. And although it is water-based, I’d stick with only using it for oral sex. There’s differing evidence on whether or not lubes containing glycerin can increase the chance of getting a yeast infection when used during penetrative sex, but I wouldn’t recommend taking the risk.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Slippery glide
  • No residue
  • Faint smell

Cons

  • Dries out quickly
  • Bitter taste
  • Some ingredients (like Diazolidinyl Carbamide) have been linked to allergic reactions

Overall

Liquor Lube has a smooth consistency that’s easy to glide on, and even easier to clean up. However, its attempt to fuse the tropical flavors of a Bahama Mama with personal lubricant was far from successful. It not only didn’t taste like the drink, but also left me with a mouthful of unpleasantness. While this particular flavor is not one I’ll be adding to my oral sex routine, I can’t speak for all of them. You can also get this lube in Appletini, Baileys & Cream, Sex On The Beach, Mojito, Mai Tai, and Amaretto Sour, and I’d be curious to see if these offer a more enjoyable taste.
